Nao Kanzaki, a college student, receives an unsolicited package containing one hundred million yen, which leads her to participate in the "Liar Game," a tournament where contestants deceive and betray each other to gain a large sum of money, with the penalty of a lifetime debt for losing. Desperate for help, she turns to Shinichi Akiyama, a former psychology student and notorious con artist, who had just been released from jail after swindling an entire company. Initially hesitant, Shinichi eventually agrees to assist Nao, and together they navigate the complex web of the game, discovering its true nature and the motivations of those involved.
