Nitaroh contracts an illness that renders him blind at a young age, but he eventually finds solace in playing the shamisen, a traditional Japanese stringed instrument. His mother's instrument, which she used before him, becomes a central part of his life after her passing. Under the guidance of a blind traveling shamisen player, Nitaroh begins to master the basics of the instrument, eventually developing his unique style. This ultimately leads to his creation of the Tsugaru style of shamisen playing.
