The Z Project aimed to alleviate the younger generation's caregiving responsibilities for the elderly. The plan was to create an automated system, the Z-001 machine, to care for the elderly without human intervention. However, when old Mr. Takazawa became the test subject, Haruko raised concerns about the hospital's approach and the machine's moral implications. The situation becomes more complex as Haruko discovers the machine's biochip enables it to develop a mind of its own.
